New Mural Painted by Stetz in Syracuse, NY

Part 1

October 16, 2018

Syracuse, NY 1022 W Fayette St.

To begin this 3 part blog I would like to thank the Believe in Syracuse Organization for being the force behind this project. Without them this project would not have seen the light of winter. As with any occupation there is a lot of unseen work that goes into making a production like this mural happen. I wish it were as simple showing up with a wheel barrow full of paint and getting to work but, there are permits to be acquired, paperwork to fill out, research to be collected, committees to get approval from, and the list goes on and on. What Im getting at is that it is a lot of work for one person and sometimes it takes a team full of people to bring artwork from an idea to the walls of your city. Thank you Believe in Syracuse for being the team to make this happen after many hours of prep work we are ready to go!

This great big red wall is my canvas! Located at a busy intersection there is no shortage of eyes on this wall. With a long stop light many of the motorists will have some time to watch the process of the painting over the course of the next few days

The property is still under construction as is the interior. The project will be complete early 2019

My artillery

Lets begin!

If you look back to the first photo of this blank canvas you'll see it was a nice and sunny day. That was no more than 2 hours ago. At this point in production the blue sky has turned to grey. The calm wind has turned into a 20-40 mph wind coming from my right and the 33 degree temperature has turned the rain into little ice pellets sent from above to kamikaze my uncovered face. This trend of constantly changing weather patterns continues through the entire painting of this mural. I hope this is a reminder that when you are gifted good weather from the art gods make sure to appreciate the sunshine and always remember, there are graffiti artist painting the trains of Serbia in February.

Night fall comes early this time of year. Today was the warmest day in the forecast for the next week. Sunshine on wall from 7am to 12:30pm. Noted.

Continue onto Part 2 for some color!
