Artist Feature: Nychos & Documentary 'Deepest Depths of the Burrows'

If you've ever been traveling the world and took notice of a massive mural depicting a dissected polar bear, teenage mutant ninja turtle, rabbit, human, or any number of painted dissections then you have seen the work of Austrian artist Nychos

I've been following the work of Nychos (and collective Rabbit Eye Movement) for years through instagram, the internet, and on few rare occasions in person during trips to Miami, San Francisco, and NYC. Highly detailed, anatomically correct with creative freedoms taken in style the work of Nychos is highly recognizable and indistinguishable from all other artists on the scene

Earlier this year I caught wind that Nychos, along with film director Christian Fischer, released a documentary called 'The Deepest Depths of the Burrow' chronicling the works of Nychos across the globe. However this wasnt a documentary focused entirely on just Nychos. The focus was exploration of a the street art & graff genre. How coming out of ones burrow can further their world views and how connected the rest of the world and like minded artists are through the street art and graffiti genre. Recently the fee to watch 'Deepest Depths of the Burrow' was lifted and the documentary was released for free on YouTube for all to see. The film runs short of 2 hours with interviews and footage of some of the worlds best artists and low-brow contemporary art noise makers creating beautiful works of art all around the globe. I highly advise giving 'Deepest Depths of the Burrows' a watch if you havent already

Info from RabbitEye Movement Youtube page: 'Nychos is an illustrator, Urban Art- and Graffiti artist who became known with his street concept RABBIT EYE MOVEMENT (REM) 10 years ago. The icon of the movement is a white rabbit, which has been breeding since then and has been popping up in the streets all over the globe for the past decade. This is exactly what Nychos thrives for – he travels the world to spread his art and his REM concept. Within the last two years Nychos was accompanied by filmmaker Christian Fischer who recorded these journeys to create a full lenght movie. ”The Deepest Depths Of The Burrow” is a documentary about art, lifestyle and subculture. The movie captures the experiences of Nychos and other members of RABBIT EYE MOVEMENT within the last several years. Exceeding the Austrian scene, they flew from Berlin to San Francisco to Copenhagen to Hawaii and many more places to visit artists who all provide a unique view into their (street) culture – They lead Nychos through the streets of their home cities and show them the deepest depths of their burrows. ”Travel to paint, paint to travel” is the motto, which runs like a golden thread throughout the entire movie. Words, which catch the spirit of RABBIT EYE MOVEMENT. ”The Deepest Depths Of The Burrow” shows images which highlight the contrasts between Urban Art and Graffiti from various angles and captures the mutual passion for Urban Art in an unique way.'
